In this chapter, we discuss the tools and mechanisms leveraged to verify and validate robot autonomy. From the identification of stakeholder preference and key performance indicators to the design of experiments and evaluation of sampling costs, we highlight the considerations and common practices of the testing methodology. To complement these discussions, we also present metrology use cases in which the performance of robotic systems with varying degrees of autonomy is evaluated.
