The architecture of an off-grid system refers to how the various energy sources, energy storage, controllers, converters, and loads are connected together. This chapter defines and describes off-grid system architectures. Examples of mini-grid architectures using conventional generators, solar power, wind power, hydropower, and hybrid combinations thereof are presented. Definitions of basic off-grid components are given.
