The benefits of regular exercise training, however, encompass not only patients with coronary artery disease. Contemporary cardiac rehabilitation evolved into a comprehensive and multi-factorial program covering the expanded population, including coronary artery disease, cardiac surgery, heart failure, implanted cardiac electrical devices, peripheral arterial disease, frailty, arrhythmia, and individuals with a high cardiovascular risk-factor profile. Delivery of exercise intervention should be personalized, based on specific diseases, comorbidities, clinical picture, and adaptation to imposed training load.
