Analysis of Spatial and Temporal Variations of Global Values of the Gas Exchange Velocity Between the Atmosphere and the Ocean for Different Parameterizations

The paper presents the results of a study of the gas exchange velocity between the atmosphere and the ocean on global space-time scales. Based on the use of reanalysis data on the surface wind speed and the peak frequency of the wave spectrum, monthly average values of the gas exchange velocity are obtained on a coordinate grid with a step of 0.5о over the entire area of the World Ocean in the period from 2012 to 2017. This work is carried out for four different models of gas exchange velocity, taking into account not only wind characteristics, but also waves. A significant difference (more than 4 times) between the obtained values is demonstrated. The behavior of seasonal variations in the gas exchange velocity is explained using the results of the analysis of spatial distribution features. In conclusion, studies are carried out for extreme conditions of the wind-wave situation on the example of Hurricane Irma (2017) using remote sensing data.
