It was found that a moderate association existed between the sustainability efforts of higher education institutions and their world rankings, and it would be advisable to include the sustainability factors in the overall world university rankings. This will encourage the HEIs to improve their sustainability efforts and the same will be reflected in their world rankings. An association was observed between the age of institution and the rankings - both WUR and sustainability rankings. It was also observed that there is an association between the type of institution and WUR. The public institutions’ ranks are better than the private institutions.
