The dismantling of industrial facilities and the closure of company sites are often an opportunity to rediscover little-known industrial heritage, especially archives, when they have not been destroyed. The preservation of this industrial, archival, tangible, or intangible heritage is often eluded because it is considered unnecessary and too expensive by companies. Taking aeronautics industry archives as an example, this chapter questions archives as a driving force for innovation, transmission of knowledge in a perspective of industrial safety and sustainability.
