Gastrointestinal and Hepatic Manifestations of Systemic Amyloidosis
摘要
Amyloidosis of the gastrointestinal tract is an uncommon disorder characterized by the deposition of amyloid in its different segments. Due to its rarity and protean manifestations the diagnosis and treatment are difficult. Herein we expound on the various aspects of diagnosis (pathological, endoscopic, and clinical), the unique characteristics of each clinical gastrointestinal manifestation and its therapeutic implications. We aim to give a bird’s eye view of this oft-neglected area and make it accessible to the scientist and physician.
