The Authentizotic Puzzle
摘要
This chapter introduces the “authentizotic” organization. Derived from authenteekos (staying true to one’s values) and zoteekos (being vital to life), it is considered something to strive for—an idealistic role model. Authenteekos is manifested within an organization by behaviors/practices that are aligned with the company’s stated vision, mission, and values; i.e., the organization is authentic. Zoteekos implies that people are invigorated by their workplace and experience a sense of balance, well-being, and fulfillment. Working in such organizations will reduce organizational stress, provide a healthier existence, increase the imagination, and contribute to a more fulfilling life. The challenge for organizational leaders, then, is to design corporations that possess authentizotic qualities, including a compelling mission, employee trust, fair process, a culture of recognition, etc., and infuse their organizations with meaning. A checklist is provided for readers to gain insight into how authentizotic their own organization is. Although, organizations that tick every box are unsurprisingly rare, it is concluded that, at their core, authentizotic organizations are distinguished by trust. When trust is part of the organizational culture, people are more confident and more productive. They feel safe. The resultant organization then becomes a vibrant, networked web, connecting people up and down the hierarchy.
