Due to the great amount of population that currently suffers from Chronic Venous Insufficiency (CVI), the medical community requires digital support at the different stages of this health condition. In this state-of-the-art review, a particular interest is given to studies to support diagnoses of this condition based on thermography images, that identify areas with CVI or classify patients as presenting or not such condition. This review provides an overview of advancements from 2017 to 2024, including a summary of features, methods, and results. The search for relevant works was conducted in databases such as IEEE Explore, Science Direct, Google Scholar and Springer. Works for identification and diagnoses of CVI conditions are included, as well as a comparison of this technology with conventional methods, current limitations, and research opportunities.
