Traumatic lesions of the scalp and calvarium represent a diverse array of injuries. A good understanding of anatomy and the pathophysiology of wound healing is essential in treating these conditions. The following chapter describes many of the common injury patterns seen to the scalp and calvarium with discussion of the various treatment options available. When assessing scalp and calvarial trauma, the mechanism and severity of the injury is important in determining which cases can be managed conservatively and which cases may require surgical intervention. Pediatric specific conditions and some long-term complications are also discussed.
