Exploring Personalized AI-Driven Literacy Programs for ESL Learners: Insights from Neuromarketing
摘要
This paper proposes an innovative solution to address low literacy among adult English as a Second Language (ESL) learners by utilizing Generative AI within a personalized literacy platform. This AI-driven platform is designed to motivate and engage adult ESL learners through a multimodal, audio-visual tutoring system that tailors educational content to individual interests and learning needs. Grounded in theories of persuasive communication, neuroscience, and economics, our approach leverages established educational strategies, such as the science of reading and neuromarketing models, to enhance literacy development. The platform will implement the NeuroMap framework by Morin and Renvoisé (2018), integrating six persuasive stimuli proven to impact student motivation. These stimuli will be used to evaluate and select learning resources for initial inclusion, refining content based on their potential to engage students deeply. Our method includes eye-tracking to assess real-time engagement through perceptual “with-me-ness” measures, alongside a Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG)-based recommendation system to dynamically adjust content. Expected results include improved literacy rates among ESL learners, driven by personalized content that engages the primal brain, connects emotionally with users, and adapts in response to engagement and learning performance.
