The fauna of the subfamily Acaenitinae Foerster, 1869, in the Middle East comprises at least 20 species in seven genera, Acaenitus Latreille, 1809; Arotes Gravenhorst, 1829; Phaenolobus Foerster, 1869; Coleocentrus Gravenhorst, 1829; Leptacoenites Strobl, 1902; Mesoclistus Foerster, 1869; and Procinetus Foerster, 1869. Also, 16 species within seven genera have been recorded from Iran, 11 species from Turkey, two species from Syria, and one species from Israel-Palestine.
