Allergen immunotherapy (AIT) is a safe and effective treatment option for patients who suffer from allergic rhinitis, among other allergic conditions. Since its introduction over a century ago, the practice of AIT has been refined by clinicians and scientists around the world to improve efficacy and safety, and its underlying mechanisms have been characterized in remarkable detail. This chapter provides an overview of the practice of AIT specifically with regards to allergic rhinitis.
