This chapter provides an overview of the relationship between Black voters in the United States and the Republican Party. While the Republican Party was once seen as the Party which best represented Black people’s views, the implications of the New Deal combined with the Republican Party’s stances during the Civil Rights Movement ultimately changed the United States Party system. As a result, for the last 80 years, Black voters have become the most reliable voting demographic for the Democratic Party, making the Black vote for the Republican Party an anomaly.

摘要

This chapter provides an overview of the relationship between Black voters in the United States and the Republican Party. While the Republican Party was once seen as the Party which best represented Black people’s views, the implications of the New Deal combined with the Republican Party’s stances during the Civil Rights Movement ultimately changed the United States Party system.
