In 2019, the first trade union for the defence of natural wines was created by a group of “pioneering” winemakers from the natural wine movement. They drafted a charter defining natural wine practices in collaboration with the French Directorate General for Competition, Consumer Affairs, and Fraud Control. A new label, “Vin Méthode Nature,” was introduced. This article explores the context surrounding the union’s creation, its journey over the past 5 years, its position within the broader wine industry, and, most importantly, the various reactions it triggered among natural wine producers. It critically examines the effects of this institutionalization, balancing the desire for official recognition, the risks of deviation, and the strategies employed to protect natural wines and the socio-environmental values they embody.

摘要
