Rethinking Financialisation
摘要
This chapter explores the evolving landscape of value creation in sustainable finance, emphasising the need to redefine financialisation as a tool for fostering environmental resilience, social equity, and long-term economic stability. Traditional financial practices often prioritise short-term returns, sidelining broader societal and ecological imperatives. However, by embedding dynamic and adaptive metrics, leveraging stakeholder-centric models, and integrating circular economic principles, finance can be transformed into a catalyst for sustainable development. The chapter argues that rethinking value creation requires moving beyond the narrow focus on financial returns towards a multidimensional framework incorporating regenerative metrics, real-time adaptability, and inclusive financial systems. Emerging technologies like blockchain and AI are pivotal in enhancing transparency, accountability, and impact measurement, enabling financial institutions to proactively anticipate and respond to sustainability challenges. Furthermore, Public–Private Partnerships, innovative financial instruments such as green bonds, and participatory governance structures are essential for aligning capital markets with sustainable growth objectives. Drawing on case studies of financialisation in action, this chapter critically examines its transformative potential and risks of over-financialisation, advocating for policy and regulatory frameworks that ensure finance serves as a force for holistic, inclusive, and regenerative development. The chapter concludes by emphasising that the future of sustainable finance must be driven by a paradigm shift, integrating ethical considerations, systemic innovation, and collaborative governance to achieve a balanced and long-term impact.
