Industry 5.0 is an emerging paradigm that builds upon Industry 4.0 technologies to enhance industrial processes with a focus on human-centricity, sustainability, and resilience. Unlike Industry 4.0, which primarily emphasizes automation and cyber-physical systems, Industry 5.0 aims to integrate intelligent systems with human collaboration, enabling customized and efficient production. This transition introduces challenges in secure and trustworthy data sharing across heterogeneous networks and industrial ecosystems. Blockchain technology offers a promising solution by providing decentralized, immutable, and auditable data exchange, enhancing security and trust in Industry 5.0 applications. Despite its potential, research on blockchain’s role in Industry 5.0 remains limited. This chapter explores the evolution from Industry 4.0 to Industry 5.0, highlighting key benefits and challenges of blockchain integration. Additionally, it presents a comprehensive review of blockchain-enabled applications across various industrial sectors, offering an architectural perspective on blockchain adoption in Industry 5.0.
