The use of wind energy to generate electricity is now a widely accepted energy necessity for ecological reasons, especially in view of climate change but also to save fossil energy reserves. Regardless of this fact, the question of costs must be put and answered. The use of renewable energy sources “at any cost” is not a realistic goal, at least under today's conditions. The ongoing discussion about the right paths in the energy transition focuses primarily on costs.
