The utilisation of offshore wind energy, i.e. the installation of wind turbines in the coastal foreshore of the oceans, has become a reality in recent decades and is seen as a key future potential for renewable energies not only in some European countries, but also in Asia and America. Development in this area is making great strides - despite all the sceptics. What are the motives driving this development?
