Impact of COVID-19 and Its Vaccination on Cutaneous Lupus Erythematosus
摘要
This chapter explores the effects of COVID-19 and its vaccination on Cutaneous Lupus Erythematosus (CLE). It explains how the virus and vaccines can trigger or exacerbate CLE in patients. The chapter outlines the clinical presentation, pathogenesis, and classification of CLE, emphasizing the shared mechanisms between CLE and COVID-19, especially the pathways driven by pro-inflammatory factors like interferons. Several case studies reported new-onset or worsened CLE following COVID-19 infection or vaccination. However, despite these associations, the benefits of vaccination outweigh the risks, and effective management and preventive strategies are recommended for CLE patients.
