Cardiovascular diseases, being the leading causes of death on a global scale, often undermine the cardiovascular system, a complex organ system that is critical for overall well-being. Effective therapies and regenerative strategies are therefore required. Biomedetic and bioinspired architectures and materials present encouraging prospects as instruments for cardiovascular regeneration through the replication or augmentation of intrinsic cardiovascular processes. This chapter examines the intersection of bioinspiration and biomimetics in cardiovascular regeneration, as well as their prospective applications in the treatment of cardiovascular dysfunctions. An in-depth exploration is undertaken of the cardiovascular system, including its malfunctioning ramifications and the necessity for its regeneration. A range of bioinspired materials that are employed in cardiovascular scaffolds and biomimetic technologies that stimulate the cardiovascular system are examined. In addition to analyzing established methodologies, their efficacy, and emerging technological developments, we provide case studies of effective implementations. In addition, novel materials and methods are examined, such as stimuli-responsive materials, self-healing materials, cardiac patches, injectable hydrogels, and 3D bioprinting. We conclude with a discussion of the future prospects for these cardiovascular regenerative medicine approaches.
