Aim. To identify the benefits of Cardiac Rehabilitation (CR) phase I, with specialized nursing care, in patients with ischemic heart disease. Subject and Methods. A systematic review was carried out, with the protocol registered on the PROSPERO platform (CRD42024614454), using the MEDLINE® and CINAHL® databases. All articles published up to July 2024 were included, and the quality of each of the included studies was assessed in accordance with Joanna Briggs Institute's guidelines. The PRISMA methodology was used to select the articles, and all studies with participants over the age of 18 who took part in phase I CR programs after an acute ischemic coronary event were included. Results. A total of 9 articles were included. The results obtained highlight the benefits of phase I CR on systolic and diastolic blood pressure, as well as heart rate, demonstrating the optimization of functional capacity and empowerment during physical exercise sessions. It has also been shown to improve quality of life by reducing anxiety and depression, and to enhance personalized health education by increasing the health literacy of patients with ischemic heart disease and their caregivers/families. Conclusion. With specialized care, nurses maximize functionality and empower self-care, enabling safe return home.
