Loneliness is a subjective, unpleasant and distressing experience that poses significant risks to people's health and well-being. Transitions can be a source of risk, particularly the transition to older age. Loneliness is considered a public health problem and self-care, as a valuable catalyst for health gains, plays an important role in preventing loneliness. The aim of this systematic literature review is to systematize the scientific evidence on self-care models and interventions to prevent loneliness in people aged between 55 and 74 in the community. Methodology: A systematic literature review of peer-reviewed studies in english and portuguese will be conducted. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines and the PICO acronym will be followed. Studies will be extracted using Pubmed, Scopus, Web of science and EBSCOhost platform and the databases MEDLINE, CINAHL, Academic Search Complete, Psychology and Behavioural Sciences Collection, APA PsycInfo, Nursing alied health complete. To minimize bias, two reviewers will independently assess the inclusion of studies. A third reviewer will be responsible for disaggregating inclusion and exclusion between two authors. The Joanna Briggs Institute quality assessment tools will be used to analyze the reliability, relevance and results of published trials. The data will be presented in tabular form to facilitate analysis and discussion, with the following headings: authors, year, objectives, methods, sample, models/interventions, results, and conclusions.
