I describe the process of science, and discuss what is pseudoscience and its effects on the progress of science. The aims of scientists include the promotion of science, the protection of science, and the advancement of science. Mentoring, risk taking, and innovation all serve to promote science. A deep understanding of scientific misconduct is necessary to enhance the protection of science. I introduce and give examples of Science Misconduct: Data Fabrication, Falsification, Plagiarism, and Fraud. I selected several examples of scientific misconduct from the field of physics. I show that egregious examples of image manipulation and fraud can occur any university laboratory, commercial laboratory, or medical school.
