Stand-alone robots have been the norm for decades. Recently, however, the Internet of Things (IoT) and cloud technology have allowed them to connect and external knowledge resources. IoT becomes a reality as a result of these connected robots. As robots become more connected, humans will be able to interact with them in novel and unforeseen ways and gain value from them. In order to determine the current state of IoRT, Human–Robot Interaction (HRI) must be examined as a fresh emerging field. Additionally, for IoT-aided robotics to evolve, several fundamental issues must be resolved, design methods must be associated, and solid structural choices must be considered. IoRT applications, implications, and open problems are discussed in this chapter. A wide range of services are available in IoT-aided robotics today, such as communication networks, distributed and pervasive computing, consensus methods based on semantics, network security, etc.
