Electric vehicles are more competitive in short races, for instance, hill climbs, due to their different properties. This paper will present an electric race car's high-level design to make it competitive in Pikes Peak hill climb. The estimation is done with simulation tools in three steps. At first, the geometry of the track has to be handled. Secondly, the vehicle dynamics should be modeled: the longitudinal and lateral grip limits define a maximum available speed. In the third step, the vehicle with its power and resistances tested with this speed profile resulted the main output of this paper, a power limited speed profile. This is an input to our partners to check the thermal behavior of the electric powertrain. The workflow is iterative because the thermal load determines the maximum available power of the eaxle. Finally, the main properties of the vehicle can be specified: required battery capacity, safely usable eaxle power, and the vehicle's weight can also be estimated.

摘要
