The Emotional Dynamic of Technostress
摘要
The chapter covers different perspectives on the complex relationships between emotions and technostress, focusing on three specific topics: the variability of emotional experiences encompassed by technostress, the role of emotion regulation in adapting to technology and coping with technostress, and evidence-based rationale for emotion-focused strategies in coping with technostress. Although anxiety was consistently proven to be related with IT use, we will highlight the idea that technostress does not necessarily encompass only negative emotional reactions. The emotional reactions and the individual emotional processing style, including emotion regulation strategies, may shape the outcomes of technostress. We discuss also what can we learn from the different approaches of the IT use—emotions relationship that could help researchers and practitioners develop better interventions to sustain digital wellbeing.
