Technological Influences on Radicalization and Strategies for Mitigating Violence
摘要
The path to radicalization is a gradual process, a series of gradual steps that involve acceptance of extremist views—and what constitutes an extremist view is, of course, a matter of debate. Radicalization often involves the reckless acceptance of violence as a means to achieve social goal, and this process is non-linear. This study adopts an analytical-descriptive approach that uses insights obtained from qualitative analysis of primary data to examine the sources and mechanisms of radicalization, its impact on violence, and the causes and consequences of these manifestations of human behavior. Of particular interest is how individuals use digital platforms, online forums and social media to spread extremist ideologies and engage in radicalization. Our analysis shows that radicalization is a long-term process that begins with a gradual shift towards extremist ideologies and ends with acts of violence. Our analysis of the role of technology in this process shows that social media has become an integral part of radicalization, and this knowledge is crucial in developing countermeasures to mitigate the effects of radicalization.
