The Extent of Application of IFRS to SMEs: A Case Study of a Dairy Company
摘要
The objective of this study is to assess the implementation of the IFRS for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (IFRS for SMEs) in Jordan, which was issued by the International Accounting Standards Board in 2009. To achieve this objective, a descriptive inferential approach is employed, with the Jordanian Dairy Company selected as a representative case study. A total of 41 questionnaires were collected, representing a response rate of 95.3%. After ensuring the validity of the retrieved questionnaires for analysis, it was determined that all of them were suitable for analysis. The data obtained is analyzed using the SPSS program. The findings of the study reveal that the Jordanian Dairy Company demonstrates a high level of compliance with the IFRS for SMEs. The study participants confirmed that their organization adheres to the specific items of the standard that were examined, including the adopted policies, disclosed information, and presentation of financial statements. Based on the results, several recommendations are put forth. These recommendations encompass both the general application of the IFRS for SMEs and the specific actions that the Jordanian Dairy Company should undertake. They emphasize the importance of providing ongoing support to small and medium-sized enterprises, facilitating their transactions and financing. Additionally, the evaluation of the accounting systems of these establishments in accordance with international accounting standards was deemed necessary.
