Legal Oversight of Foreign Technology Companies: Effectiveness and Challenges
摘要
This chapter discusses the legal obligations placed on foreign technology providers by local laws. It tries to show how such obligations affect the day-to-day activities and dealings of these companies within the target country and examines the efficacy of governmental oversight in enforcing compliance. The analysis used carefully selected legal texts applied to model situations, enriched by reference to current legal literature and related earlier research. Recommendations resulting from this study emphasize the need for strict observance of these legal obligations for protecting the national economy and upholding the rights of individuals engaged in business with foreign technology providers. Moreover, it strongly brings out a necessity to make revisions in certain legislation to bring them up to date with advances taking place in technology and rapid economic development.
