An Approach Based on the Multifaceted Ontology to Development of Event Series Processing Tools

Existing process mining methods based on analysing event logs containing mandatory event attributes allow to investigate processes in different domains. Additional attributes extending mandatory set of values can be presented in various data sources. Domain experts need to analyse dynamics of changing the values of additional attributes to get important information on events and to consider it at analysing processes. Special applications must be developed by programmers to implement new methods of analysis for different domains and specific sets of additional attributes. An approach to developing tools for implementation of new methods of processing event logs containing additional attributes based on the use of algorithm designers and expression builders like those included in MS Office applications is proposed in the paper. Their use does not require programming skills. The basis of the approach implementation are domain specific modelling and multifaceted ontology, including descriptions of the rules for developing functions, as well as descriptions of functions for generating and analysing event logs in accordance with these rules. Domain specific language is used for designing rules. The language grammar and representation of the rules, developed by users, in the ontology are described. The user interface for developing rules in created domain specific language and the algorithm for their interpreting are implemented in the research prototype of the tools. Generalised structure of the tools is shown.
