The purpose of this study was to investigate potential local oceanographic influences on the carbon and oxygen isotopes within the Saiq Plateau and Wadi Sahtan sections. The research focuses on examining the δ13C and δ18O records derived from whole-rock samples obtained from the Early Triassic Lower Mahil Formation, which is the equivalent of the Upper Khuff outcrop, situated in Al Jabal al-Akhdar, Northern Oman. This formation was deposited on a gently sloping carbonate ramp and comprises predominantly gray limestone and dolomitic limestone. To provide a comprehensive analysis, we employed Dunham's classification to meticulously describe the sedimentology of the Al Jabal al-Akhdar (Saiq Plateau and Wadi Sahtan) sections, collecting isotope samples at regular 50 cm intervals. Furthermore, our study delves into the correlation between the lithofacies of the Lower Mahil Formation and the corresponding carbon and oxygen isotope values. Interestingly, our findings reveal that the carbon and oxygen isotope values in the Saiq Plateau and Wadi Sahtan sections exhibit a more concentrated distribution with narrower variations, suggesting potential uniformity in their local oceanographic influences.

摘要
