This chapter examines the factors that facilitate and hinder the reintegration of demobilized ex-combatants and their families from Organized Armed Groups (GAO) in Colombia, associated with the Colombian Agency for Reincorporation and Normalization (ARN). Conducted as qualitative research using grounded theory, this study highlights several critical findings. It emphasizes the necessity of supporting parenting processes to prevent the perpetuation of violent intergenerational patterns and underscores the importance of enhancing communication within family systems. Additionally, it reveals the crucial need to address the stigmatization and feelings of displacement experienced by ex-combatants and their families during reintegration. The research also stresses the importance of engaging receiving communities as key to the successful adjustment and reintegration of these individuals and families, advocating for a participatory construction of the reintegration concept.
