The aim of this work was to study the influence of perceived parenting styles on children’s self-perceptions as a function of gender. The Self-Perceptions Profile for Children (SPPC) and the Argentine Parenting Relationship Perception Scale were administered to a sample of 98 children of both sexes (males 43.90%; mean age = 9.86; SD = 1.28) from Buenos Aires (Argentina). It was found that the perception of the relationship with parents predicts the level of self-perceptions of girls in all evaluated domains (physical/social, academic/behavioral, and global self-esteem), while only the acceptance by the mother predicts the self-perceptions of boys in the physical/social domain.
