Effects of Vitamin and Mineral Supplementation on Health and Quality of Life in Mini Gastric Bypass Patients: A Scoping Review
摘要
Weight-loss surgery, including Mini Gastric Bypass (MGB), is a transformative intervention for obesity, yet it requires lifelong nutritional supplementation to maintain overall health and achieve the best outcomes. This scoping review investigates the critical role of daily vitamin and mineral supplements post-MGB, emphasizing how they contribute to enhancing patient outcomes. After undergoing weight-loss surgery, patients often struggle with nutrient absorption due to changes in gastrointestinal physiology. To overcome these difficulties, chewable and liquid supplements are advised for the first 3–6 months after surgery, as they tend to be better tolerated and absorbed compared to traditional tablets. This review examines how adherence to these recommended supplements affects patient health and quality of life, based on data collected from patient surveys. The anticipated results will highlight the ultimate importance of supplements in sustaining health, improving quality of life, and achieving long-term weight-loss success.
