Implementing electronic commerce (EC) has become essential for small and medium-sized firms (SMEs). Previous studies have ignored factors associated with individual attributes relating to employee and manager information culture. Developed models exploring the influence of information culture on the adoption of electronic commerce (EC) and the subsequent impact of EC adoption on the performance of SMEs still need to be improved, particularly in the context of developing nations like Palestine. Therefore, this study aims to examine the influence of information culture factors on the adoption of EC and the impact of EC adoption on the performance of SMEs in Palestine. To achieve these research objectives, the current study utilizes quantitative methodology. Data was obtained through online surveys from the owners/managers of 142 Palestinian SMEs operating in the information and communications technologies (ICT) industry. The study uses the structural equation modeling-partial least squares (SEM-PLS) method to analyze the collected data. The results of the data analysis reveal that information culture factors (information integrity, control, and formality) significantly influence EC adoption by SMEs in the ICT sector in Palestine. Moreover, the adoption of EC is not considerably affected by information proactiveness. In addition to that, there is also a significant relationship between EC adoption and organizational performance. The results of the study have numerous implications. The findings can help decision-makers in the SMEs sector prioritize their adoption of EC based on the relative importance of the variables examined. Furthermore, to enhance organizational performance, there must be an increased desire among decision-makers in SMEs sector to use EC. Given the limited amount of research on the topic of EC adoption in Palestine, the findings of this study could be valuable for policymakers in Palestine.
