This paper assesses the ‘Goldilocks Economy’-balanced economic growth with low inflation rate and tolerable unemployment rate. Such balance can only be attained by employing efficient coordination of fiscal and monetary to persistently moderate inflation/recessions. This work uses the contrasts between the soft landing of the 1990s when inflation was lowered without touching an actual hard landing of the 1980s brought about by sharp increases in interest rates. Conditions that exist in the present Indian economy are described; economic growth together with inflation is discussed. The paper calls for sound fiscal policies, coherent monetary policies and private investment for the development process to be sustainable. Evaluations of international experiences suggest the measures that should be taken by India to achieve long-term stability and sustainable development in view of the worldwide instabilities.

The paper calls for sound fiscal policies, coherent monetary policies and private investment for the development process to be sustainable. Evaluations of international experiences suggest the measures that should be taken by India to achieve long-term stability and sustainable development in view of the worldwide instabilities.
