The Power of Customer Journey Mapping with Artificial Intelligence: A Case Study Method

Simply constructing a customer journey map is not enough. Customer preferences and behaviors change over time in response to emerging needs and circumstances. To ensure customer experiences are positive, companies must refresh customer journey maps. Hence, AI helps in precisely capturing customer interactions at various touchpoints, retaining up-to-date and relevant maps, and adjusting complex customer journeys. Customer journey mapping is an efficient technique that enables companies to visualize their customers’ end-to-end experiences. This research explored the impact of customer journey mapping with integrated artificial intelligence on companies to enhance customer experience and increase customer loyalty. Using AI-driven analytics, companies can effectively gather and analyze massive amounts of data from various touchpoints. Nevertheless, AI-powered customer journey mapping encourages predictive modeling, enabling companies to foresee customer behaviors. The authors used a case study methodology to collect data on three SMEs using AI support customer journey mapping. This methodology assures a comprehensive understanding of AI on customer journey mapping for academic and business audiences. Findings from the case studies illustrated the effectiveness of AI in optimizing customer journeys. Companies implementing AI-driven CJM reported significant improvements in key performance indicators such as customer satisfaction scores, Net Promoter Scores (NPS), and customer lifetime value (CLV).
