Jacobus de Voragine, Legenda aurea (The Golden Legend)
摘要
Jacobus de Voragine is famous for compiling the Legenda aurea or Golden Legend, the most popular collection of saints’ lives in western Europe. Although it was designed for an audience of Dominican mendicant preachers combating heresy, the Golden Legend was also popular among women, who owned copies, commissioned translations, and were solicited as patrons.
