Ovid, Heroides
摘要
The Heroides are a series of poems written by the Roman poet Ovid in the later part of the first century BCE. The conceit of most of these pieces is that they are letters written from the perspective of well-known mythological and historical women in the Greco-Roman tradition. Their subject matter and rhetorical techniques were emulated by authors during the Middle Ages as a model for human voice and experience. Several medieval women authors utilized the Heroides for their own communications and expression.
