Joan of Arc
摘要
Joan of Arc (French: Jeanne/Jehanne d’Arc) is one of the most well-known figures in fifteenth-century French history and one of the most powerful voices of the Hundred Years’ War. Joan’s words survive in her testimony, meticulously recorded during her trial for heresy, and in letters dictated by Joan to clerics and scribes in the French army. Joan’s legacy has also endured in large part because she has come to mean many things to many people. She is a patron saint of France and is frequently evoked as a symbol of French national identity. Additionally, Joan is an important figure in feminist and trans rights movements. Joan’s image continues to be depicted and reinvented within popular culture to this day.
