Huarui Furen
摘要
The identity of Madame Huarui has been a contentious issue in Chinese literary history. Most contemporary scholars believe she was a poet and imperial consort of the Former Shu dynasty (907–925). Others claim she was Consort Xu of the Later Shu dynasty (934–965). Among her best-known poems is a quatrain satirizing the Later Shu army’s surrender to the Song empire (960–1279), which led to its fall. However, the authorship of this poem is arguable. She was also known for her palace poems.
