Little is known about the Comtessa de Dia, who likely lived from 1140–1212 CE, but what is known with certainty comes directly from her own writing as a trobairitz, a woman writing lyrics in Occitan in the South of France. The Comtessa de Dia, also known as Beatriz or Beatritz de Dia and Isoarda de Dia, was likely born in Die and died in Provence. Scant biographical information is known about any of the trobairitz, even those with a vida. Four single-authored texts, and possibly a fifth with another writer, are attributed to the Comtessa de Dia, making her one of the most prolific trobairitz in terms of extant lyric. From these texts, we know that the writer thought about love, happiness, and distress.

Scant biographical information is known about any of the trobairitz, even those with a vida. Four single-authored texts, and possibly a fifth with another writer, are attributed to the Comtessa de Dia, making her one of the most prolific trobairitz in terms of extant lyric.
