Colette of Corbie (1381–1447) was a celebrated reformer of the Franciscan Order. Having tried several different religious pathways, she joined the Order of Saint Clare in 1406. With the help of her well-connected confessor Henri de Baume and a powerful network of supporters, she founded and reformed 17 Franciscan monasteries. Two contemporary biographers chronicled her life. She left a number of important texts, such as the Rule for her order (the Constitutions) and about 20 letters, all centered on pastoral and administrative concerns. Despite numerous attempts over many centuries, she was not canonized until 1807.
