Yan Rui (fl. 1182) was a government-managed courtesan of Taizhou (in present-day Zhejiang province, China) during the Southern Song dynasty (1127–1279). She has become to be recognized as a distinctive representative of courtesan culture in imperial China because of her talent in ci (song lyric) composition and her integrity and courage in the face of torture and threat of death, although the historical veracity of her story remains uncertain.
