Katharina Tucher
摘要
From 1417 to 1421, Nuremberg laywoman Katharina Tucher composed a text with no title, solid beginning, or solid ending that scholars have variously called “Revelations,” “Confessions,” “Dialogues,” a spiritual journal, and a book of visions. Most of the 94 entries or chapters consist of an apparition of Christ teaching religious lessons to Tucher on topics such as sin and grace. A few chapters, however, delve into more personal matters, such as her contentious relationship with her confessor and her habit of drinking too much wine. It is little surprise that themes and the occasional direct quote from contemporary literature permeate the text: Tucher is also well known for her personal collection of religious books that helped enrich the famous library of the Dominican convent of St. Katherine in Nuremberg.
