Ida of Nivelles (1199–1231) was a high medieval Cistercian nun, holy woman, and visionary whose life became the subject of a well-known hagiography produced shortly after her death. Ida’s visionary experiences and exemplary speech functioned as opportunities for women’s narrative participation in the text of her life.
