In this chapter, I articulate a theoretical framework for analysing journalistic discourse by bringing into dialogue theories of discourse and practice, ultimately adopting the lens of pragmatic sociology to conceptualise journalists as reflexive actors capable of critique. Grounded in a phronetic case study of The Guardian, I examine how journalists justify their practices, evaluate themselves, and qualify their relationships, thereby illuminating the moral and institutional transformations of journalism in the platform era.
