The present chapter introduces the wide range of digital technologies that have been adopted in the real estate and construction sectors and those that show the potential for being broadly attractive to optimise multiple building life cycle phases and improve the built environment at large. It highlights the limitations of the current debate and outlines the factors that are slowing down the digital transition in the sector. The chapter identifies new players and stakeholders that have been and will be increasingly crucial in this transition, also by recognising the specific novel dynamics that they are introducing within the sector.

摘要

The present chapter introduces the wide range of digital technologies that have been adopted in the real estate and construction sectors and those that show the potential for being broadly attractive to optimise multiple building life cycle phases and improve the built environment at large. It highlights the limitations of the current debate and outlines the factors that are slowing down the digital transition in the sector. The chapter identifies new players and stakeholders that have been and will be increasingly crucial in this transition, also by recognising the specific novel dynamics that they are introducing within the sector.
