As recursion is found in different human activities, it it is expected to have a significant presence in our cognitive tool par excellence: language. In language, it is abundantly present in the three semiotic dimensions: syntax, semantics, and pragmatics. In syntax, recursion is evident in different types of dependencies between elements conforming a sentence. In semantics, it facilitates meta-representation or meta-intentionality, shaping a powerful theory of mind. In pragmatics, it is widely present in dialogic language, where it reaches a greater depth than in the descriptive language. Recursion is also a part of non oral languages, such as sing language. These notes make recursion a key property of our language.

摘要
